The Dinner-Staley Family Project
Our Goal
The Dinner and Staley families are travelling to Jinja, Uganda in August 2024 with the aim of improving the lives of Ugandan children, families, and communities, by undertaking and completing specific projects. Their goal is to fundraise $15,000 (through GIVE International) in order to assist Ugandan-run charities and organizations/individuals in communities that they know well and have come to highly respect over their previous experiences in Uganda. The two families will be focusing on projects related to maternity care, education, children with special needs, and poverty-stricken elderly grannies who are supporting their grandchildren. 100% of every dollar you donate will be spent on projects when they are in Jinja (eg. Mobile medical clinics, water retention systems, food distributions, school supplies, and family kits. The amount they are able to fundraise will determine the extent of their contribution.
Details
Paul and Debbie Dinner have led groups of Canadian volunteers to Uganda (approx. 110 people) on behalf of GIVE International since 2011. This summer, they are very excited to be travelling with their entire family (including 7 grandchildren) to introduce them to the wonderful people and beautiful country of Uganda through this phenomenal volunteer experience. The family is paying all their personal expenses for the trip, including airfare, accommodation, food, bus rental, and other personal costs.
How It Works
GIVE will wire transfer 100% of the amount fundraised to the Ugandan staff in Jinja, and the funds will be disbursed each day as needed, in order to purchase supplies from local businesses in Jinja for that days’ activities. Trucks will be hired for the distribution of family kits, which will then be delivered by their family (on foot) to the most needy families in various rural villages.
