Child & Youth Development Projects
Sonrise Baby Home
Started in response to the ever-increasing numbers of HIV/AIDS orphans living in Uganda, GIVE International has partnered with The Sonrise Baby Home to help provide funding for a safe, loving, and healthy home for children without caregivers. Sonrise’s mission is to rescue and save babies in Jinja who are in need – and seeks to provide a loving and safe environment where children can grow physically, mentally and emotionally.
Volunteer Opportunities: helping with the preparation and distribution of meals, assisting with necessary construction and refurbishment projects.
Home of Hope
Home of Hope was started in response to the increasing need of care for children born with severe physical and mental disabilities. The Home provides health care, food and specialized care for 19 severely disabled children. The orphanage is located 15 minutes (driving) from Jinja.
Volunteer Opportunities: helping with the preparation and distribution of meals, assisting with necessary construction, painting, and refurbishment projects.
The African Street Children Organization (ASCO)
This project aims to provide support to street kids in poverty stricken areas of the Uganda by first and foremost providing a safe home for vulnerable children and youth. ASCO also works to create avenues for children to receive an education and provide medical aid to those in need. ASCO is a safe-haven, where children and youth are given an opportunity to grow and develop the life-skills needed for a more hopeful future.
Volunteer Opportunities: organizing recreational activities, tutoring children with their school work, helping with the preparation and distribution of meals, assisting with necessary construction and refurbishment projects.
